The most powerful mobile companies on the national and international scenes are selling their mobile antennas. This movement began a few years ago in Italy by Telecom Italia and in the US by América Móvil.
The reason for this business outsourcing lies in several factors. The high investments required by 5G is one among many others. Only in Spain, telecoms will face an investment of more than 5,000 million euros in offering this new mobile technology that will increase the connection speed, significantly reduce latency (or response time of the web) and exponentially multiply the number of connected devices.
Different companies in the sector, investment funds, and banks such as Barclays, anticipate that the classic mobile phone towers will not be enough.
